Letters From Iwo Jima may just be Eastwood's best War epic that i've seen, showing the Japanese troops of Suribachi's side, and how their point of view was kind of alike to the American as well.

The movie mostly centers around Saigo (Kazunari Ninomiya) and General Kuribachi (Ken Watanabe) When trying to hold off the americans from taking Iwo Jima. The acting are one of the best that i've seen from any war film, and most credit goes to Ken Watanabe, who show magnificent acting to a general who has lived in and respected America, but fights for Japan to help his people. Kazunari Ninomiya was just as magnificent also, showing how tiring it is to be staying in a cave waiting for Americans, and how it is losing most of your companions. But what really surprised me is that the Japanese troops was a lot the americans, and same with the generals.

The movie was filmed perfectly, showing a depressing color that highlights the feel of the movie. The part that really hit me, was when the Americans captured Shimizu, and the way Saigo reacted when he saw him, really showed how hard they put into this movie. This was a new kind of war movie, something that I really anything like this before.
