An amazing display of humanizing Japanese soldiers, Letters might be dismissed as a tearjerker, but it's to draw buckets, and one with a real heart. Altogether with "The Departed" and "Pan's Labyrinth," Letters from Iwo Jima is one of the best films of 2006.
