Strong movie with near perfect cinematography, but a bit too long-winded. It didn't really need 144 minutes [Unkto humanize the Japanese soldiers and make their little point about the Japanese cultural shift from Chinese neo-Confucianism to American individualism.
The script could have been a little tighter.
