Review of Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) by Connor B — 31 Mar 2016
The film is alright, and is solidly entertaining, but obviously not very masterful like its two predecessors. This is when Mel Gibson starts to just phone it in. There are gags in this film that are stupider than the ones in the first two, Joe Pesci, while annoyingly funny in the previous film is not as funny here, the situation with a cop shooting a kid and feeling depressed about it is recycled from Die Hard, Riggs being told not to use violence is terribly old ( that seemed more like an issue relevant to the first film), and one can easily forget why the villain wants to sell armor-piercing weaponry to criminals, if it is not for money.
The final fight between Riggs and Jack Travis, the villain, is definitely not as exciting as his fights with Joshua or Vorstedt from the previous two films either. On the bright side, Rene Russo does a great job as a female cop who has great chemistry with Riggs.
