Review of Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) by Jamie S — 27 Sep 2008
There are definitely shades of Dirty Harry in "Magnum Force" in utilizing the "bad cop" genre. The use of a flubbed bomb defusing (and the random kitten) is funny and Joe Pesci's reappearance added some comic elements.
The famous hockey scene is a bit of a letdown, though. Per the prescription of the "Lethal Weapon" oeuvre, there are the ridiculous car chases (and now I can see where "Live Free or Die Hard" got some of its source material), a gag on Murtaugh, and the massive battle at the end where Riggs & Murtaugh make a great big mess and Riggs HAS to get in a fistfight with the big bad villain.
