Review of Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) by Eve C — 22 Feb 2012
While the chemistry between Gibson and Glover is still great and the dialogue is top notch, the main problem that plagues this movie is the overall story. It feels like a story to a middle season cop TV show rather than a big budget movie.
In the first Riggs had to face an enemy from his past and overcome his emotional problems while the villains repeatedly attacked him and Roger. Very serious stuff. The second took a step up with a very powerful enemy that can't be touched because of his diplomatic immunity.
It also had more comedy in it since Riggs and Murtaugh were now friends. And what is the epic conclusion to the trilogy (at the time)? A weapons dealer is giving guns to kids. Not that exciting and we shouldn't be learning lessons about gun control in a lethal weapon movie.
But again the acting and dialogue save this movie and you will never not be entertained or feel bored.
