Review of Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) by Rocknblues 8 — 05 Jan 2010
The whole crew returns for this sequel that I happen to believe is better than the original. Joe Pesci adds a lot to the film, and the added romance that develops between Riggs and the blonde woman actually works instead of hurting the film. It really adds to Gibson's suffering character and it leads to a tragic 3rd act that really gives the finale a boost from an emotional standpoint.
I would say there is a lot more going on here than there was in the first film. It's darker and more violent with better villains in my mind. The one down point is that the tension between Martin and Murtaugh is not really there this time. So it's not all better, but I find this to be the better and most entertaining film of the series.
