Review of Lethal Weapon (1987) by Dave W — 04 Dec 2013
This movie is a product of it's times, so I excuse the gay joke(jokes?). Other than that it's 80's film making at it's finest. It is packed with sweeping shots, sharp dialogue, and impossible situations that involve death defying stunts to escape.
The thing that sets it apart from other 80's action movies is the depth to which Richard Donner portrays the main characters' family lives. It is done to just deep enough level to make the viewer care about the outcome of the story, and just shallow enough to keep the movie going.
Sound, music, editing, locations, and wardrobe are all excellent as well. Sure it's filled with several merciless killings that are complimented by tasteless jokes, but that's what the 80s were all about.
