The grand-daddy of buddy cop movies, not only provides solid action but also sports superb chemistry between leads Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. Gibson's performance as a suicidal cop assigned to weary Glover is very often poignant and intense - helps you overlook some of the more preposterous plot turns.
Michael Kamen, Eric Clapton, and David Sanborn's score nail the tone.
