Review of Lethal Weapon (1987) by Jeffrey B — 03 Jun 2014
Mel Gibson's performance in Lethal Weapon is way more interesting and intense than you prolly remember if ur like me and ain't seen it in 15 years. It's pretty clear how influential this family man + psychotic wildcard spin on the buddy cop film was for True Detective (tho obv TD's take is way more advanced).
Outside of the leads' dynamic though, I didn't get much out of it, particularly when the stupid drug plot takes over about halfway through. There's basically one action set piece (the desert showdown) and it came off incredibly flat for me.
