Review of Lethal Weapon (1987) by Michael C — 26 Dec 2018

I find it hard to believe that it has been more than thirty years since this groundbreaking film was released. I remember seeing an advance showing of it in my hometown in a sold out theater. It was and still is, one of the best action movies I have ever seen.

It is a well known fact that one of the things that makes a movie great is its cast. "Lethal Weapon" is certainly no exception. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are perfectly cast in their respective roles.

They compliment one another extremely well and have great chemistry together. What helps this movie a great deal is there are many scenes where you are not sure what is going to happen next. The best example of that is the scene where Mel Gibson's character tries to talk down the suicidal man who wants to jump off a building.

The movie is worth watching for that scene. There are certainly some terrific action scenes as well. Veteran director Richard Donner (Who also directed the three sequels that followed.) does an excellent job here as well.

After repeated viewings over the years, I still enjoy "Lethal Weapon" just as much as when I saw it for the first time. I think you will enjoy it just as much if you have not seen it already.
