Review of Let the Right One In (2008) by Andy S — 06 Apr 2012
What if Stanley Kubrick had made a Vampire Film? It might have possibly looked something like this. It definately had echos (at least stylistically) of THE SHINNING. Not to take anything away from Tomas Alfredson though, who here creates one of the most simple yet deep and rich "Horror" films ever made.
Astonishing is about the only word I can use to describe this near masterpiece. This film is all about enviroment. You can almost feel the cold and snowy setting of this Swedish City pour through the screen.
Sound is a MAJOR element to this film as we seem to hear every little breath from the characters. Theres is SOOO Much to discuss in this. Simple fantastic with and ending that will BLOW YOUR FREAKING MIND.
Brilliant and haunting work.
