Review of Let the Right One In (2008) by Joe R — 23 Oct 2012
Wasn't exactly sure what I was in for when I sat down to check this one out; I thought it might be hyper kinetic, loud rock music, flashy visuals and wearing its Uber-coolness like a badge. What I found was a beautifully poetic, sad, wistfull, sweet vampire movie that is more like Antoine de Saint-Exupery's "The Little Prince," just with a body count.
The movie is definately not scary in the traditional horror movie sense. In fact, I would hesitate to classify it as horror, but what it lacks in frights, it more than makes up for in mood, atmosphere, and instant watchability.
Lina Leandersson as young Eli, is a magnificent actress. She comes off as feral, vunerable, manipulative, and endearing all at the same time. Just like this movie.
