Review of Let the Right One In (2008) by Ken B — 22 Oct 2011
Another foreign majesty. Hailing from Sweden, Let The Right One In swept the movie festivals winning several of the largest in Europe. And its even donned critics' lists as one of the Top 5 Greatest Vampire Movies ever.
This is no Bram Stroker's Dracula, or Interview With The Vampire, or Twilight. This is a tale of a mysterious little creature posing as an innocent girl who has spent centuries seducing men into being her 'caretaker'.
This movie carefully displays an energy of lust Oskar (a naive little boy) develops for Eli (a seducing monster) and Eli's methods of gaining his trust/affection. Eli's current caretaker has become old and jealous.
And it's time to replace him. It's time to replace him with Oskar. The mood is right for a hunger as it is harvested in pure Scandinavian veins.
