Review of Let the Right One In (2008) by Yannick D — 06 May 2015
Breathtakingly intimate and masterfully told, this tale of a young boy who gets bullied and have divorced parents, befriends a girl that appears,.. not normal. I think the film itself become better if you already read the book, because it gets easier to symphatize with the characters.
Beautifuly shot and it also has a really nice score adding to the tone. The tone itself is very consistent, dark, gloomy and a little depressing, dressed in a white and cold swedish winter. The child actors are very good, even if I noticed one or too slip-ups, and the story that is told is very well done.
They excluded some parts of the book and I feel it totally fits. The filmmakers stuck it to the root of the story which is this fantastic love story between vampire and little, blonde boy.
