Review of Let the Right One In (2008) by Pate. — 11 Apr 2009
The start of the movie began bland and at first it was hard to tell if it was suppose to be thriller, horror or drama (i wouldn't know since im not swedish) and at first your thinking, this has got to be one of the worst movies I've even seen.
...but then it begins to get better the further into the movie you go. Then you begin to feel sorry for a boy who can't defend himself against a few bullies. Then a boy meets a vamp chick, not a wanna be vamp chick.
...A REAL VAMPIRE. She just so happens to be his age sorta, which leaves you wondering just when is she gonna turn him? For some reason she has a fondness toward the boy....and what starts a a friendship begins to blossom into a subtle romance.
In the end it was a good movie for those who look at the elements. Might not be everyones type of movie. It wasn't a 10 for me....but close enough. Those who like such a subtle not so violent and gore filled move will surely enjoy.
I figure if I was swedish there would be more to it that I would understand. As Paul D said, one of the greatest endings in a movie i've ever seen.
