Review of Let Me In (2010) by Steven C — 06 Apr 2012
Great stories should be told many times and in different ways. This is my theory on why the general idea of a remake is never terrible. What is a terrible idea is degrading a great story with a lesser version.
That is something that has been happening for the better part of the last decade. Thankfully Matt Reeves has the correct idea with his film "Let Me In", an adaptation of the Swedish novel and film, "Let the Right One In".
Reeves' film is respectful of the story and it's past incarnations as well as being fresh and new. It's an elegant film that is helping remind American film what the horror genre can be. "Let Me In" was far and away the best horror film of 2010, one of the best remakes of the last five or so years and a great film in it's own right.
If your a fan of the previous versions of this story, or just like complex, rewarding and unique filmmaking, "Let Me In" will be right up your alley.
