Review of Let Me In (2010) by Nick A — 26 Aug 2012
I called 2008's Let the Right One In a "staggering film". And it is; it remains one of the greatest vampire films in cinematic history. Matt Reeve's remake can't quite touch the perfection of its forebear, but it is the best American-made vampire film ever.
And what makes it so is the subtle ways in which it separates itself from the original (visual parallel between Owen and Richard Jenkins' character at Owen's age, for example) -- subtle enough to not disgrace the source, yet different enough to grow segments of unique identity.
