Review of Let Me In (2010) by Matt C — 10 Nov 2012
The original interpretation of the book - Let The Right One In - is such a unique and special film, one could be forgiven for thinking that an American re-make was both pointless and undermining the original, just because it's not in the English language.
But, to give credit where credit is due, Let Me In is a good film.
It doesn't deviate much from the original storyline - some scenes are slightly different - which kinda brings us back to that question of "why?".
Let Me In is different in tone to the original and focuses more on the vampire theme. What was subtle in the original film, is more obvious and pronounced in this one; the chemistry between the two leads, for example.
So, even though Let Me In falls shy of the brilliance of Let The Right One In, it's a worthy re-working which has a pulse of it's own, for sure.
