Review of Let Me In (2010) by Kelsey K — 16 Jul 2012
As a fan more of the book than the Swedish movie I have to say I loved this film. Reeves cuts right to the chase with this and doesn't mess with the many character story line from the original book, but instead creates a new environment with the same sorrow and loneliness of the book.
This is probably one of the best remakes/adapted screenplays I have ever seen, just because it separates itself from the book and the original movie and become a new experience with the original story still there at the core.
The actors in this film are amazing! Chloe Moretz has proven herself to be an amazing young actress in almost everything she does. Whether it is comedy, action, adventure or horror, she can pull it off almost flawlessly. Kodi Smit-McPhee is also a rising star in his acting and seamlessly covering up his native Australian accent. Richard Jenkins (not surprisingly) does a wonderful job with only a few lines making him rely on mostly facial expressions and tone of voice throughout the time he is in the film, Jenkins was probably the perfect man for this role. Elias Koteas (a person that I had only seen in a TMNT movie before this) did a surprisingly great job as the police officer.
To sum this all up, this is an amazing film about two lonely souls finding friendship and love in one another. They both have their demons to overcome and face. And in the end, is it love, or just a sick game that lures the weak into Abby's trap?
