Review of Let Me In (2010) by Josh K — 05 Jan 2014
When this film was announced, I'm sure that a lot had reservations that it was going to be a pointless American version. In the end, the film is absolutely terrific, while having real soul and also standing perfectly alongside the Swedish version.
Matt Reeves pays respect to the Swedish version, while also wonderfully adding his own spin to the vampire genre. While the film is the same, it works greatly with a great amount of respect. Kodi Smit-McPhee and Chloe Grace Moretz are perfectly cast in their roles, having terrific chemistry between one another.
The cinematography is astonishing, while the change to New Mexico also works well. Michael Giacchino's score is haunting, while the film works as a great horror film. Like the first, this film stands as a worthy edition in the vampire genre and also as an amazing horror film.
