Review of Let Me In (2010) by Connor B — 05 Sep 2012
This film was basically pointless. It is nigh exactly the same as the original. Shot for shot remakes are a waste of time and money, especially when the only reason for them is because the original is in a foreign language.
It's not bad per se because they haven't changed the tone. The original is absolutely brilliant, and since it is very much the same film it doesn't technically have any bad points other than the unnecessary additions of gore and/or lengthening of scenes, and the removal of some ambiguities (as American remakes always do).
But it accomplishes absolutely nothing more. Yes, there is obviously great respect for the source material, but clearly not enough to leave it be. The original is still better, so watching this was pretty much a waste of time.
