Review of Let It Be (1970) by Ariel V — 17 Sep 2012
Infamous as the film that inadvertently captured and chronicled the Beatles' meltdown, it is far from that. It's a very human and gritty look behind the scenes of an intensely creative and talented group of musicians.
Difficulty and joy in their personal dynamics, cooperation and dissolution, the workaday process of creating the music, sometimes unsettling revelations about the connection between their songs and the real-life drama playing out in front of them - and this incredible new perspective offered when the film switches from verite rehearsal footage to straight-up music video performance.
Fascinating film, quickly launched Let it Be up to my fav Beatles album.
