Review of Less Than Zero (1987) by Brandon H — 19 Jul 2007
Bret Easton Ellis' novel Less Than Zero had great film potetial. However, they dropped the ball with this one. The novel does a fine job at showing the characters and how too much money and too much time on their hands has a negative effect on them.
The movie has no sense of direction. The casting wasn't well thought with the exception of Robert Downey Jr. as Julian. Robert Downey Jr. managed to capture the feel of being drugged up and projected it through Julian.
Unfortunatley that's about the only real good thing about the film version. The book however was fantastic.
