Review of Less Than Zero (1987) by Phil W — 21 Jul 2007
A very poor interpretation of a fantatsic book (but isn't this usually the case?). Andrew McCarthy is terribly miscast as the protagonist Clay, showing even less emotion than is actually evinced in the book, and Jami Gertz is woeful as she waltzes around each set like an extra (piece of furniture).
The only saving graces are Spader and Downey Jr, who both happened to go onto relatively successful Hollywood careers.
