Review of Less Than Zero (1987) by Steve S — 22 Dec 2009

A movie I was really looking forward to, but never got around to until now and, man, was I disappointed. I had read the book a few years ago and really enjoyed it, like I do all bret easton ellis's nihilistic '80s pop culture romps, but I felt this adaptation was missing alot of what makes ellis's work so interesting and that is his characters inability to feel any real emotion at all.

I feel andrew mccarthy and jami gertz were completely miscast, the only great things were robert downey, jr. and james spader's performances, showcasing their talents at a young age.
