Review of Lesbian Vampire Killers (2009) by Greg F — 24 Jun 2009
Phil Claydon's "Lesbian Vampire Killers" is a lazily scripted horror comedy resembling goofy genre flicks from the 1950s. The plot is quite funny: two lads played by comedians Mathew Horne and James Corden are planning to go to the rural town in order to score.
They meet a group of attractive girls who unfortunately become victim to a curse turning them into blood-thirsty vampires. The movie tries to be an awesome spoof much like "Shaun of the Dead", but it's too light and bloodless to resemble the genre movie in any way.
The vampires are too easy to kill and, when slain, they spurt white milky liquid instead of blood; which makes the movie so painfully ineffective. The jokes are also rather hit or miss. While Horne is really underwhelming, Corden's improvisations are mostly hilarious and together with some brief nudity serve as the highlights of the movie.
Despite its cool title and several cool scenes, "Lesbian Vampire Killers" is nothing particularly exciting or worth watching. In fact, it's quite disappointing. 4/10 (C-).
