Review of Lesbian Vampire Killers (2009) by Adam B — 31 Jul 2010
It's fine for a film to not take itself seriously, but it was like the actors realised halfway through (like the audience I guess) that this was going to be crap. They tried to repeat what Simon Pegg and Nick Frost achieved with Shaun of the Dead by spoofing horror films and with the two male leads, but it was just so uninteresting and had very few laughs.
The only laughs all came from James Corden. Generally, I quite like James Corden, but he cannot lead a film and it doesn't help that the entire film ended up about him, he must have been in about 98% of the scenes coming out with quotes and hysterical shouting that got irritating towards the end. It's a shame because this had the potential to be at least half enjoyable, but it just seemed rushed, lazy and lacking in any real ideas.
