Review of Les Misérables (2012) by William C — 27 Jan 2014
Amazing, yes, of course it was, but my expectations were sooooooooo high. You know all the good stuff already. The bad: 1. where was Eponine? A missed opportunity to maximise the screen time and development of such a wonderful character.
2. The barricade was fairly unimpressive (I mean the actual one, not at the end when all the cast climbed atop a metaphorical one). 3. I didn't care about the revolutionaries or the fact that all of poor Marius' friends were slain.
I should have. I wanted to. But I didn't. Too much time spent on the [wonderful] Fantine but to the expense of all the other characters which were sidelined to bit parts. To end on a happier note, Jackman was perfect for the role and Crowe had a nice voice.
Which suprised me. I don't know why.
