Review of Les Misérables (2012) by Mellisa N — 05 Sep 2014
My favouriite story of all time and my favourite musical - there is not much that I don't know about this tale or the music, having been a little obsessed with it since I was 10 and that being the reason I took so long to watch this, just in case it was spoiled in any way.
Must say an amazing job has been made of it, there have certainly been some changes added and the scenery of course brings the plot further to life where the stage can be limiting. Very surprised at the great job Jackman did as Valjean and that they honoured the very man who played Valjean so amazingly for so many years on stage with a small but worthy part (Colm Wilkinson).
I have only 2 little niggles with this and it happens to be Russell Crow's voice (which in my mind is not how Javert sings) and that the comedy elements of the show didn't come across as funny as on stage, apart from that the whole film was utterly brilliant.
