Review of Les Misérables (2012) by Brett H — 28 Sep 2014
By far the most epic musical I've ever seen, but with it comes an excruciatingly long runtime that you feel every minute of. I am beyond impressed with the performances of Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway and the decision to perform the songs live on set; greatly adds emotion and gusto to all the singing! The cast is all-around solid, and though Russell Crowe received much flack for his singing, he's not "THAT" bad and adds a tone all his own.
I think Tom Hooper set his sights a tad high, but it's still worth a watch for the amazing production values, beautiful cinematography and wonderful singing!
