Review of Les Misérables (2012) by Maryse L — 17 Apr 2016
Talent-less main roles and poor casting decisions yield a distinctively inadequate sound track for an otherwise appropriate rendition of Hugo's Les Miserables. Unfortunately for the movie, the sound track is the most important aspect of this iconic piece. Jackman and Crowe sound as nasaly and flat; no amount of acting experience can grant you a melodic voice. One only has turn to Phillip Quast's 1995 Javert to realize how much better this could have been. The only salvation of this otherwise dull movie is the much more talented singers in lesser roles and the timeless plot of the French Revolution.
And Jackman? Stick to Wolverine.
