Review of Les Misérables (1998) by Rebecca B — 14 Feb 2008
Though I have not read the book, I know the story quite well and LOVE the musical! This adaptation was quite good, and while Liam Neeson was the sexiest Valjean ever and Claire Danes perfectly embodied the innocent Cossette, I was greatly saddened that my favorite character, Eponine, was not included.
Her story is tragic and relatable. Also, the film ends with Javert's suicide, which, although this is a good thing, leaves one with a semi-sad feeling in the end.
