This one is different from the book but different can be good. They did a masterful job with the material. In the time Les Miserables was concieved it seemed customary to overwrite everything from love letters to novels.
Yeah, I said it. Les Miserables is overwritten. The film version - on the other hand - is lean. They got this one "write". Victor Hugo strikes again. Two thumbs up!
