Review of Les Misérables (1998) by Mike S — 06 May 2011
Structurally lean but effective, "Les Miserables" is a spartan re-telling of the Victor Hugo classic. And while this interpretation may shave off some of the additional color of the original, the brisk pace keeps the tale focused and does little to dull the overall emotional intent, save for, an abrupt and unsatisfying end that squanders potential catharsis in favor of an easy out.
