Review of Les Girls (1957) by I'm El Capitano! A — 18 Jan 2009
Wasn't too impressed by this movie. Yes it had a rather beautiful cast of women and an interesting she-said, she-said plot, but it was rather unfulfilling and it took too long to unfold. Most of the music and dancing was unmemorable: the title song was so-so as Kelly's own dance part seemed lazy and messy; the Ladies in Waiting number was kind of ridiculous and somewhat scandalous.
There were a few charming gems, though: Nichol's & Angele's dance on the boat and the scene with Joy and Nichol in the bar was pretty cute. Gene Kelly's a lucky guy.
