Review of Leprechaun in the Hood (2000) by Cat F — 25 Mar 2010
What can I say about this film? Whilst funny and entertaining, it's just plain bizarre. Sure, it was exactly what I was expecting (well, with a few strange surprises such as a concluding rap by the leprechaun, and a cameo from Coolio - ok, maybe I expected some sort of cameo, what with one of the leading roles being Ice-T - these gangster rappers like to stick together).
The plot seems to drag in several places, leaving us eager for the leprechaun to return to the screen and do what he does best - do a little incredibly irish rhyme, then fuck shit up so to speak. Still, it isn't entirely fair of me to damn the film, seeing as I have not seen any of the other films from the Leprechaun 'franchise'.
All the characters are incredibly one dimensional. Particularly embarassing is Ice T's portrayal of Mack Daddy.
The two stars I've awarded for this are purely for the humour.
