Review of Leprechaun 4: In Space (1997) by Adrian F — 02 May 2010
Campy, cheesy; it takes real talent to do that right. This movie hits all the right spots. A deranged, arrogant German mad scientist whose imperious mannerisms are worth the price of the film. The equally arrogant Marine drill sergeant.
And the gold-obsessed leprechaun who alternates between evil cackles and quips and blood-thirsty snarls. Then there's the vain, bimbo space princess. This is the way B horror movies should be. And the special effects are quite good.
Not to mention the grotesque plot, which appeals to all kinds of creepy but seductive fantasies and fears. Well-written, well-directed, well-acted. Just because it's not high brow doesn't mean that it's not well done.
