Review of Leprechaun 2 (1994) by . S — 02 Aug 2011
It might just be the beer talking but this Leprechaun sequel was actually better then the first. Surprised the shit out of me. Not so redundant & the comedy actually made me chuckle a bit. I was happier that this actually took place on St Patrick's Day so there's a Irish holiday movie that's sorta tolerable.
It even has Clint Howard it in. Sorta starts as a grim fairy tale before it switches gears & it's not a whole lot of 'me want me gold' even though there's some of that. The writing is a little more sharp even w/ a homage to Tod Browning's Freaks.
It can't always sustain (even @ a brisk running time) but it actually has it moments. Not dreading part 3 as much as I thought I was going to but there will be alcohol involved.
