Review of Léon: The Professional (1994) by Mark H — 30 Aug 2011
Extremely predictable, but still better than most action films made in the last fifteen years or so. Gary Oldman reminded me too much of Willem Dafoe's character in the horribly written "The Boondock Saints" (1999), and Leon looks like Alfredo from "Cinema Paradiso" (1989).
Leon The Professional works because the characters work, for the most part, and makes the viewer want them to be successful in their quest to survive. The violence is brutal at times, but I expected a bit more action seeing that it's a pretty popular film.
One can guess what happens after every scene, but Leon is a pretty badass killer, and for that, it's worth a watch.
