Review of Léon: The Professional (1994) by Rob F — 04 Jul 2012
An emotionally well told tale of a girl looking for a father, and a reserved man who appeal to his heart. Leon was an amazing film when I watched it 15 years ago and is still one of the more powerful stories you will see in a film.
Natalie Portman in one of her best roles, perhaps only second to Black Swan, delivers in all the right places and Jean Reno is just fantastic in every moment of this film. They, however, cannot pull the spotlight away from Gary Oldman in perhaps my most memorable performance of his as Stansfield.
Oldman commands the screen when he is on it, orchestrating the action as if he is shooting people to the tune of Mozart (which he does in the film by the way). Leon is a must see, for any one who appreciates a little art in their films and who themselves, are looking for a second chance.
