Review of Léon: The Professional (1994) by Mark A — 10 Nov 2012
Ok Luc Besson is one of those rare writers that puts effort into creating his characters. He gets you to care about them, invest in them so that you have a reason to be interested in what happens to them which is why you stick around to see the end of the flick. Granted he doesn't always succeed at this but at least he tries. And never has he succeeded so well as with this film. I love many of the short clips that are simple exposition on the character, not a single unnecessary shot.
On top of all that the action is very entertaining, nothing is too overboard or tongue in cheek for me, so many great performances which for me is almost eclipsed by Oldman's work here. Good characters, well written dialog and entertaining action sequences, this is a great flick all around. I can't think of anything I don't like about it, thus the 5 stars. See it!
