Review of Léon: The Professional (1994) by Matt M — 25 May 2013
Luc Besson's film is a stylish action thriller in which everything seems fresh and original. While the film is exciting and doesn't shy away from violence and gore, it has a central sweetness which comes from the unusual relationship of the hitman and the little girl which is tasteful and adds a welcome Chaplinesque element to Leon.
The performances too are memorable, Gary Oldman's psychotic villain turn is a pleasure to watch.
