Review of Léon: The Professional (1994) by Sanchayan S — 21 Mar 2014
Amazing performances from Gary Oldman , young Natalie Portman and especially Jean Reno makes "Leon:The Professional" a charming and a bittersweet tale aided with beautiful music and a brilliant piece of song at the end.
However the movie has various glitches , the first being the awkward relationship between a 12 year old girl and a 40 year old man - Its not a bad concept but its not nicely executed . The climax of the movie with this most annoying American-Italian mafia thug irritates the viewers right out of the beautiful conclusion it could have been.
Despite amazing performances , Luc Besson's screenplay lacked the proper impetus to show this complex emotional arc in its full length despite having a wonderful cast. However the movie has a strong sense of suspense , dread and a nice emotional arc.
