Review of Léon: The Professional (1994) by Ed B — 28 Jan 2015
What can I say about a movie that I never get tired of? Whether it's on cable (uncut of course) or Blu-Ray I must watch this at least once a month or twice or three times. Jean Reno and a young Natalie Portman make the perfect team in this Luc Besson classic.
It's been 20 years since this movie debuted and the story doesn't get stale, even though it has a bit of a lolita love twist, the story plays out perfectly and with Gary Oldman playing such a hated villain as a corrupt DEA agent it takes this movie to a level that isn't seen too much with action/drama movies these days.
Sure it's a bit over the top, especially with Leon shooting it out with the NYPD in a hallway in a hotel in New York city, but it's a guilty pleasure and one that can be indulged in time and again.
