Review of Léon: The Professional (1994) by Ray M — 21 Jun 2014
What a film. Luc Besson at his best (except perhaps the Fifth Element). Casting perfect in every way - Gary Oldham is the best villain in the universe. Natalie Portman is outstanding. What's very well executed is the combination of a very dark story line - police corruption, drugs, murder - and the relationship between a girl and a hitman.
It just grabs your attention. Violence and the need for a father figure. Who'd have thought that would work? Excellent.
