Review of Lemmy (2010) by Gary P — 21 Jan 2011
LEMMY is so good, the only bullshit in the film is having to listen to Billy Bob Thorton, Kat Von D, Dave Grohl, and Dave Navaro talk about him, Kat calls him an LA icon, the man is worldwide!
Another funny quote, is Captain Sensible talking about shitty synth music-I remember the Damned making Depeche Mode sound raw, it was 2000/2001.
I didn't know Lemmy played with the Damned for a minute after Brian James stopped.
Seeing Lemmy be himself all day and many touching moments.
Dave Grohl says some ok things and some stupid ass shit things. Putting down Keith Richards on film, wow! Lots of people play music Dave, the difference between them and you is you've made a career out of music, and rocknroll-you're not suppose to make a career of. Little Richard made great songs, and then walked away from it. Bo Diddley, Lemmy they're natural born players, Johnny Thunders, who did heroin-so what, he hated that part of his life, he made a guitar sound like no one, someone likfe Slash or Dave Navaro, talks those licks and wank them out. They're little wind up rock avatars, like a Barbie doll in a rock band, immitating, not innovating, careers! You made some cool music, but you're riding that shit.
