Review of Legion (2010) by Henrik S — 03 Jun 2012
It started out interesting, more like a survival horror with an unusual setting but derails towards a mindless bulletfest towards the end. The lack of acting talent (exceptions Bettany and Walker) becomes more apparent the more ridiculous the god vs. angels vs. humans vs. zombie/demons becomes and the actors cannot carry the ballony anymore. Especially Lucas Black is so painfully bad, it almost made me stop watching. It's not the planecrash everyone makes it out to be, it is just a very bland survival horror / zombie / undead action flick with a Christian setting (which probably upset a lot of people). It's forgettable and not really something you have to watch or pick up unless there is nothing else on.
Paul Bettany is a really charismatic actor but I think his 'Memento' role still needs to turn up on his desk. He makes for a grim and good action star but the script is so generic and awful for most of the time, it's hard to take anything serious that is happening here.
Shame, good premise.
X.
