Review of Legends of the Fall (1994) by Blackity B — 14 Aug 2010
What a great movie. Hard to believe it's been so forgotten and under-appreciated. It has everything pretty much. Beautiful setting, fantastic acting (Pitt especially proves why he is a top actor), an epic, tragic story, heart passion...a great period piece if there ever was one. The only complaint I hear is that it is a bit melodramatic, and yeah - Tristan spends half the movie crying, the other acting like a wild animal. But he has good reason for all of that, it's not like it's unmerited in any way.
I thought the score was a bit overbearing at times, and the overdo the slow-mo towards the end, but those are its only weaknesses.
