Review of Legendary (2010) by Bridget W — 30 Sep 2010
** (out of four).
A pure formula piece. We've seen this plot so many times that you could watch it in your sleep. It is earnest and well-meaning, but not enough so.
A nerdy Oklahoma teenager decides to follow in the footsteps of his brother and father by joining the wrestling team at school much to his mother's disappointment. He sets out to talk his long lost brother (John Cena) into giving him pointers.
Though the film disapoints in the script and direction part, I must say that Patricia Clarkson as the mother is wonderul as always. She out acts everyone else. The biggest surprise is John Cena. He's actually not bad and does what is required of him. It would be nice to see what he can do in a better written film.
